The Brown Club of Houston and the Brown Women's Network invite you to a discussion with Brown alumna, DJ Healey '82, transgender activist, patent litigator, and subject of the documentary, Our dad, Danielle.

DJ will discuss her journey from Brown as David J. Healey to coming out as a transgender woman in 2017 in Sugar Land, TX as Danielle Joy Healey.

The documentary, Our dad, Danielle, tells the story of her transition, how she became an accidental activist, and how her family has remained together and adapted to their new circumstances.  DJ hopes the movie will educate people about what it means to be transgender and help dispel the increasing prejudice against the transgender community in Texas.

We will also have the chance to discuss the film with the director, Sarah King.

Sarah (S.E.) King was born in Puerto Rico and grew up in Texas. King is an award-winning director, writer, and producer based in Los Angeles whose production company, Melba Productions, recently completed their first documentary feature, Our dad, Danielle. She/They develop inclusive content with a focus on LGBTQ+, women, and other marginalized populations.
