Here's Where Money Matters Most: Which Students and Schools Benefit Most from School Funding
Thursday, March 10, 2022
8:00 – 9:00 pm (EST)
Join us for a special Zoom conversation with Professor Emily Rauscher as she discusses her recent counterintuitive research.
Traditional models suggest that increased school funding has the most bang for the buck at higher resourced schools because they have the resources to make use of it. But Rauscher has found the opposite to be true: that giving more to lower income schools (known as "progressive spending") actually benefits students the most (PDF here).
8:00 to 8:20 PM: Remarks
8:20 to 9:00 PM: Q&A
During the Q&A portion, Rauscher is also open to taking questions about any of her other recent publications: Unequal Opportunity Spreaders, Rising Inequality of Infant Health, Does Money Matter More in the Country, Delayed Benefits, Medicaid and Family Wealth, Why Who Marries Whom Matters, Paternal Education and Infant Health, Going Places
Professor Emily Rauscher studies social returns to education spending. Broadly, Rauscher examines the relationship between education and inequality, focusing on specific policies that can increase equality of opportunity by race and socioeconomic status.
