About the Event
Ross Hyzer ’03 shares his experience of studying comedy theory at Brown before going on to develop the practical craft of stand-up comedy and comedy writing; how theory connected (or didn’t) to performance; and the insights he gained from exploring two different facets of the pursuit of laughter.
About the Speaker
Ross Hyzer is a writer and stand-up comedian whose work has appeared in The New Yorker and Points in Case. After completing an independent concentration at Brown entitled "Comedy and the Comic", Ross moved to New York City where he spent over a decade performing in comedy shows throughout the city and across the United States. He went on to study screenwriting at The New School, and now lives in Florence with his family, where he writes screenplays (and still performs every now and then).
