The Brown Club of Greater Miami brings back again the very well-attended Alumni Attorney Mixer, this time featuring 3 alumni sitting judges in a panel, followed by networking and great conversation.
The three judges being featured are:
Judge Robert N. Scola, Jr., ’77 is a 1980 graduate of Boston College School of Law. He served as a Dade County prosecutor from 1980-1986, and in private practice from 1986-95, when he was appointed to the state court bench. He was appointed to the federal bench by President Obama in 2011, where he has served as a District Court Judge, taking senior status this past October. Bob and his wife, retired Circuit Judge Jacqueline Scola, Bob comprise one of Miami’s most esteemed power couples.
Judge Corali Lopez-Castro, ’87, P ’19, is a 1990 graduate of UM Law. She practiced for more than 30 years with one of the most respected bankruptcy boutiques in the country, Kozyak, Tropin & Throckmorton. Along the way she served as the firm’s managing partner, and also President of the mighty mighty Cuban American Bar Association. In 2023, Cori joined her former partner, Judge Laurel Isicoff, becoming the first Latinx US Bankruptcy Judge in Florida.
Judge Yara Lorenzo Klukas, ’05, is a 2009 graduate of St. Thomas University School of Law. She served prestigious clerkships with District Judge James King and 11th Circuit Judge Peter Fay before entering private practice for six years, and then serving as a federal prosecutor for four years. In 2023, Y-Lo was appointed to the State Court bench, where she currently serves in the Domestic Violence Division.
