As part of our efforts to mark Black History Month, BCDC is visiting the National Museum of African-American History & Culture! We're thrilled to partner with the Inman Page Black Alumni Council (IPC)'s DC chapter for this outing.
Because the museum is huge and deeply engrossing, we're making a full afternoon of it. We'll meet at the Madison Drive Entrance at 1 p.m. for our timed group entry before breaking into smaller groups based on our interests. Current special exhibitions include the art exhibit Reckoning: Protest. Defiance. Resilience, and Spirit in the Dark, a photographic exhibit that examines Black religious life.
Afterward, we'll reconvene next to the Grand Staircase in Heritage Hall before walking a few blocks to DC's oldest saloon, the legendary Old Ebbitt Grill, for some snacks, drinks, and informal discussion. Friends, family, and children are quite welcome!
Registration includes light bites and drinks at Old Ebbitt. Space is limited to the first 20 guests to register, so secure your spot today!
Please note the museum's visitor guidelines, especially those concerning public health precautions and prohibited items. Please also let us know in advance if you will need any accomodations so we can inform the museum staff. Note that the museum has a variety of accessability options, but the walk to Old Ebbitt's is about half a mile from the museum, so be sure to dress weather-appropriately and wear comfortable shoes.
