Can I still register?

Online registration ended on September 13, but we’re happy to sign you up when you arrive on campus September 21-23. Please note that on-site registrations will require an additional fee of $50 ($25 for class years 2008-2018), and availability of space for limited-capacity events cannot be guaranteed during on-site registration.

Can I bring a guest?

Yes, you can feel free to register a spouse or fellow alumnus/a. Note: Due to space limitations, children under 12 will not be permitted at the reunion. Children 12 and over may register at the same price as alumni classes of 2008-2018 ($75). If you are traveling with a younger child, please make childcare arrangements in advance.

I have already registered but need to cancel. Whom should I contact?

Please direct all cancellation requests to affinity_group_events@brown.edu. Someone will respond within two business days of your request.

Can I see who else is coming?

Yes, you can! The 2018 Black Alumni Reunion attendee list is now live.
Note: This list displays Brown alumni who have registered to attend and provided consent for their name to appear on the RSVP list.

 

When does the Black Alumni Reunion begin and end?

The reunion kicks off at 1 pm on Friday, September 21, and concludes on Sunday, September 23, at noon.

Where should I stay?

Special hotel blocks have been placed on hold for BAR guests. You can find other hotels in the area by visiting Brown's Travel Portal.

Who planned the Black Alumni Reunion?

The members of the Black Alumni Reunion Steering Committee and the Inman Page Black Alumni Council, in collaboration with Brown’s Alumni Relations Office. Learn more about the event.

Are pets allowed?

With the exception of documented service animals, pets are not allowed.

Are children allowed?

Unfortunately, because of space limitations, children under 12 will not be permitted at the reunion. Children 12 and over may register at the same price as alumni classes of 2008-2018 ($75). If you are traveling with a younger child, please make childcare arrangements in advance.

What is the attire for the Black Alumni Reunion?

Attendees are encouraged to dress comfortably, although you are welcome to dress business casual for Friday and Saturday night dinners. You may also want to bring an umbrella as fall weather in Providence is unpredictable.

What are the dining options near campus?

Is the conference wheelchair-friendly?

Yes. Meals will be under a tent with an installed floor. Panel and experiential offerings will have wheelchair access. Please email affinity_group_events@brown.edu with any accessibility concerns.

Can Brown accommodate my dietary restrictions?

Please email affinity_group_events@brown.edu to notify us of special dietary restrictions or food allergies.

Will there be shuttle service during the reunion?

Yes, shuttle service on campus will be available. Check back for more details.

Where should I go when I arrive on campus?

Please go to Maddock Alumni Center, 38 Brown Street, for check-in from noon to 10 pm on Friday or from 7:30 am to 9:30 pm on Saturday.

Where can I park?

All visitors may use the Lot 68 self-pay visitor parking garage, also called the Power Street Parking Garage, located at 111 Power Street. The visitor entrance is at the intersection of Power and Thayer Streets. The garage has pay stations at the front and rear. Please visit the Brown Transportation and Parking Services website for more information.

Hourly rates for visitor parking
Monday through Friday, 8 am to 6 pm: $3/hour
All-day rate until 6 pm, Monday through Friday: $15
Weekdays after 6 pm, weekends, holidays: $2/hour

Can I store my luggage at Maddock Alumni Center?

You may leave luggage at Maddock in the registration area. However, we prefer not to take responsibility for luggage. After the doors lock at 5 pm, you will need to call Public Safety to gain access to the building. We cannot guarantee security and are not liable for missing property.

Who can I call for emergency assistance?

• For medical emergencies or urgent medical care, call +1 (401) 863-4111.
• Use campus phones designated by blue lights; press the red emergency button.
• Approach any uniformed police officer, security officer, or emergency medical technician for help.

The Brown University police dispatch emergency personnel and coordinate all emergency services.

When is the Brown Bookstore open this weekend?

The Brown Bookstore features indoor and outdoor seating, great coffee, Brown souvenirs and, not incidentally, books.

Monday through Friday: 7:30 am to 8 pm
Saturday: 10 am to 8 pm
Sunday: 10 am to 6 pm

Will I have internet access?

You are welcome to log onto Brown’s visitor network. Wireless is available in all residence halls, on the College Green and in many classrooms. From the list of available networks, choose Brown-Guest, then provide your email address. Voila! You’re online!

Where is the lost and found?

Brown’s Department of Public Safety coordinates the lost and found desk. If you find an item, please bring it to Public Safety headquarters at 75 Charlesfield Street. Call +1 (401) 863-3322 about lost items.
