Getting Around

Thayer street, slightly unfocused

Parking

To ease your travel around Brown, the University has made additional parking spaces available on campus. You may leave your car in the upper Power Street lot any time. Parking is free from Friday at 5:00 pm through the weekend. This lot is located at the corner of Power and Thayer streets. Additional parking is also available in the local community.

Remember to lock your car, whether it is on the street or in a lot. Please observe the city’s parking laws and emergency “no parking” signs. Any car parked in a temporary emergency/ no parking tow zone, in marked handicapped spaces without a placard, in violation of a fire hydrant, blocking a driveway or obstructing Brown police or Providence police sawhorses will be towed at the owner’s expense.


Shuttle Service from Downtown

For your convenience, the University will provide shuttle service during peak arrival/departure times throughout the weekend. The shuttle will pick up/drop off at the Omni Hotel, One West Exchange Street in downtown Providence and will stop on Campus at the Maddock Alumni Center (corner of George and Brown streets) and Faunce Arch (located on Waterman Street). The College Hill—Downtown shuttle service schedule is as follows:

Friday:
11:30 am – 1:30 pm
4:00 – 7:30 pm
10:00 – 11:00 pm

Saturday:
7:30 – 11:30 am
4:00 – 7:30 pm
10:00 pm – 12:45 am

Important Note: Due to the Waterfire performance Saturday night, many downtown streets will be closed throughout the day and evening. Please allow time for detours.

Sunday:
8:00 am – Noon


Staying at the Hampton Inn?

Any Black Alumni Reunion attendees who are staying at the Hampton Inn Providence can utilize the hotel’s on-call shuttle service between 7:00 am – 10:30 pm daily by making an appointment with the hotel. Guests are encouraged to ask for shuttle information at the front desk.

Special break rooms have been set aside for your use throughout the weekend. Feel free to use these spaces to meet up with friends, continue your conversations between sessions, or simply relax and unwind.

Alumni, families and friends are welcome to log onto Brown’s visitor network. Wireless is available on the College Green and in many classrooms. To access service: choose Brown-Guest from your list of available networks and provide your email address.

Brown’s Getting Greener!

In an effort to reduce Brown’s environmental footprint, disposable plastic water bottles will not be available on campus. Attendees, you are welcome to fill the reusable water bottle you received at registration at any of several water stations throughout campus.
